Interlibrary loan

What it is

Interlibrary loan is a service that allows a library to borrow documents that are not available internally from other Italian libraries.

Who can access the service

  • IN mode: students enrolled on SAA courses, teachers and staff working at SAA
  • OUT mode: libraries or documentation centres

Waiting times

The average turnaround time for this service varies, but is usually around ten to fifteen working days. The SAA library endeavours to process incoming requests within an average time of three to four working days.

Costs

The SAA library operates this service free of charge to other libraries on a reciprocal basis.
In the event of reimbursements expected in favour of the lending library, the SAA library will inform the user before forwarding the interlibrary loan request. These costs are borne entirely by the user.

Modalities and duration

Volumes from other libraries must be consulted internally and are not eligible for external loan.
The consultation period available to the user for volumes on interlibrary loan is a maximum of ten days to allow the library to return them within the timeframe set by the lending library
